The new Advanced Stallion Performance Test was held at Lady Jean Ranch in Jupiter, FL. Since the first test in this format took a lot of organization, we were pleased to have such a well-organized and helpful host with this wonderful facility! The participants, test riders, our training director and the judges felt most welcome. The stallions enjoyed the spacious and airy stalls and the fantastic facilities for the test. The owners Bill and Jean O’Brien, the barn manager Kit DeDominicis and the whole staff of Lady Jean Ranch supported the registry tremendously and helped us to successfully complete the first Short Test!
Although only dressage stallions participated in ISR-Oldenburg’s first Advanced Stallion Performance Test they were asked to show their jumping ability in the free jumping during the Basic Test (which is similar to the final test of the 100-Day Test). Here it is Diamunde the seven year old Oldenburg stallion by Diamond Hit.
Another part of the Basic Test was the evaluation of the basic gaits. This is performed on the hunt field and the stallions are asked to show the gaits at the high speed. The photo shows the six year old Oldenburg stallion Rosall by Rosario and rider J.J. Tate at the speed canter.
Test rider Mikala Gundersen gets ready for another stallion. An important part of the special discipline test in dressage is the test ride of all stallions performed by a world class dressage professional. Mikala had just finished her overwhelming 2009 Florida Grand Prix season with a third place in the Grand Prix Musical Freestyle (on ISR-Oldenburg approved stallion Leonberg) at the WEF a few days before her test rides.
